Sunday Night Scene

Release Date:  October 13, 2009               Chamberlain Records

Coming out of the North East, Sunday Night Scene grabs the Pop-Punk/Rock genre and slaps you in the face with it.  The result?  A bunch of young blondes screaming the words, “Jimme Coccaro, I love you!”  His latest release, America’s Playmate, hit iTunes and the net in late October.

With tracks named All That Shimmers, Chance of a Lifetime, and Americas Playmate, there is no doubting the realm of where this disc is coming from.  Jim Coccaro takes credit on the disc for the writing of the songs, as well as Producer, and Mixer.  Sunday Night Scene can count on one thing…venues packed with young tail.  Period.

OTEP

Smash The Control Machine

Release Date:  August 18, 2009

If you’re not into screaming, fast, hard rock, stop being a pussy and take two pills of your choice and enjoy OTEP.  Their new album Smash the Control Machine  is worth the slight liver damage you'll endure from the acetaminophen. The female lead singer, Otep Shamaya, has balls of metal. Her voice fits perfect, half turn-on, half head bang.  I'm not sure if I'm aroused or want to start a mosh pit. The track "Sweet Tooth" is a perfect example of this. The songs, "Smash the Control Machine" and "Rise, Rebel, Resist" are on the same page as being a fight club-esque tune of fuck the man. And they are not all heavy songs. The track "I Remember" is a tuned down creepy story, like an Outer Limits episode. This band has it all; guts, glory, and a hot chick singer, which leads me to tell you to check it out and give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed!

LYNAM

Tragic City Symphony

 Release Date:  August 18, 2009    Mascot/Megaforce

In Latin the word Lynam means: boner of the ears. Today, it's three brothers that absolutely rock. Their new album, "Tragic City Symphony," kicks ass; an absolute must for the rock genre on your i-pod. The song, "Lindsay Says" is one you'll repeat a hundred times. "Porn star", not just a catchy track name, but also an ode to fornication that will become your Friday and Saturday night anthem replacing the old, "Do you like pina colada" song. "Is This a Heartbreak or a Loaded Gun" and every other track on this CD is a testament of what's to come from these brothers of Birmingham, Alabama. Once you listen to Lynam you'll know why we can’t wait for what’s next.

CHEVELLE

Sci-fi Crimes

Release Date:  August 31, 2009   Sony

For those hardcore Chevelle fans out there, this album is a mix of old and new…sounds from Point #1 mixed with This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In.  The result?  The best Chevlle album to date.  There’s no wonder as to why this band has lasted this long.  From 1999 to today, this Chicago Alt-Rock band has stood the test of time for their genre, selling millions of albums.

From “Highland’s Apparition” (an acoustic track), to “A New Momentum,” Chevelle shows how diverse their music and vocals can get.  This album is by far the best vocally for Pete Loeffler and the boys…which includes Sam Loeffler (check out his interview here) on drums, and Dean Bernardini (brother in-law) on bass.

Key Tracks:  A New Momentum, This Circus, Jars, Fell Into Your Shoes, Shameful Metaphors

SEVEN DAY SONNET

  REPRISAL

Release Date: July 18, 2009 (unsigned)

Seven Day Sonnet finally comes to the table with their debut album, Reprisal. Bursting out of the Chicago music scene, they bring a very unique and unforgettable sound that meshes hard rock with mesmerizing vocals. The Chicago circuit is not easy, and Seven Day Sonnet show why that is with the abundance of talent that they bring with this album. From the very detailed guitar pieces to the machine gun, chest pounding drums, you will be caught up in Reprisal...from “All Fall Down” to the closing track “A Solitary Existence,” you can see why this band has played with the likes of Disturbed, and had the opportunity to record their album with Brett Hesla in the Sunshine State.

If this album is missing anything, it would be the fact that 7DS is also amazingly talented at playing some of these tracks acoustically, and they have been left of the album. For that exclusive performance, visit the audio section for “The Butcher,” “Saturdays,” and “Head First.” You will be scratching your head and shaking off the Goosebumps, thinking to yourself why Seven Day Sonnet is not on the radio near you. Get our there and buy this album, because it’s you that will be bringing them to a station near you.
